The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Kwara State, has passed a vote of confidence on the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), describing his exemplary leadership and open-door policy to students as “highly commendable”.

The Chairman, Kwara State NANS, Comrade Abdulkadri Aliyu, made this known last Tuesday (March 28, 2017) when he led members of his executive council on a visit to the University of Ilorin. Presenting a letter for the vote of confidence to the Vice-Chancellor, Comrade Aliyu noted that Prof. Ambali has a heart for the students and called on other universities to emulate the Unilorin helmsman.
The student leader said, “We are writing to voice our unequivocal support for Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali and to express our continued confidence in your leadership as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin. Our support for your leadership is due to your sense of duty, measured judgments, principle of community, integrity and justice”.

Comrade Aliyu said, “The development that the University of Ilorin has witnessed during your administration has stood you out”, adding that the University is second to none in academic excellence, moral discipline and peaceful approach to conflict resolution”.

He tasked the Vice-Chancellor to continue to protect the image of NANS, saying that the umbrella students' body is an agent of peace condemning social vices in the society.

Comrade Aliyu commended the Unilorin Students' Union for being peaceful and creative in their approach to students leadership, which led to the emergence of its President, Comrade Shobowale Lukman, as the best Students Union President in tertiary institutions in the country.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the students' body for its confidence in his administration, saying that the University of Ilorin is the home of NANS.
Pointing out that the University of Ilorin gives premium attention to the students, Prof. Ambali said that without students there cannot be a university.
The Vice-Chancellor told the NANS leaders, “Thank you for acknowledging the
demonstration of discipline by our students. Our welfare programmes have been towards making students comfortable as they strive for optimum academic attainment”.

He disclosed that the accommodation of over 7000 students and the construction of seat- outs are parts of Unilorin's “drive to make learning comfortable for our students”.

Prof. Ambali also informed the students' body that the University of Ilorin spent a lot to have a dedicated power line on the campus to guarantee 20-hour supply of electricity and provision of water on the campus.
He reiterated the University's stance on zero tolerance to examination malpractices, revealing that out of about 40,000 students who took part in the last examination, there were only 5 reported cases of exam malpractices due to the system put in place to checkmate it.

“We have cause to be proud of our students”, the Vice-Chancellor said, pointing out that those leading the University today were once students who had smooth education. He noted that it is only right for them to give equally smooth education to today's students.

Members of the NANS team that visited the Vice-Chancellor were Comrades Abdulhamid Abubakar, Taiye Abdulateef, Awaiye Olaide, Issa Jimba, Ishola Solihu, Abdulraheem Ibrahim Abdullahi Adebisi, and Ibrahim Silifat.
The Vice-Chancellor was joined to receive them by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor
(Management Services), Prof. A. Y. Abdulkareem; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. (Mrs.) N. Y. S. Ijaiya; the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. A. E.
