NIGERIAN EDUCATION, A LIGHT AFTER DARK

A commonsensical question that I always ask myself is What is wrong with Nigerian Education? Nigeria's education sector is confronted with many challenges mainly because successive governments have failed to properly implement the various policies so far introduced.

The problems in the sector is poor implementation, not the lack of positive policies.

"The problem with the education sector is not introducing new policy but implementation. It's not lack of standards but lack of quality. "As successive governments are coming in with new policies and sweeping the old ones under the carpet, institutions are confused with the actual policy to adopt. the government must ensure that any policy introduced is fully implemented.

"So, inconsistency in education policy is really affecting the sector. There are so many other factors which contributes to the retarded Educational system in the country like Poor motivation of teachers, For Instance, The extrinsic motivation in terms of salaries and reward structure is pitifully low in spite of the attempt at parity with other workers in the public service.
