Osamwonyi Bright Osas and Governor Ayodele Fayose in Ikere-Ekiti The Corps member, Osamwonyi Bright Osas a graduate Political Science and Public Administration, was said to be serving at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti. Luck came his way when he meet Governor Ayodele Fayose who was assessing the third phase of Ado/Ikere road dualization on Thursday.

The governor was said to be on his way after the assessment of the project when Corps member asked him to take  photograph of him you can see above..

“Good afternoon Mr. Governor, I am a native of Edo, I relocated from Adamawa to Ekiti State because of my love for you, I follow everything you do religiously online, I love you so much and I pray God take you higher and higher. I graduated from UNIBEN with a first class in Political Science and Public Administration, one thing I pray thee Sir, please allow me snap with you Sir”, the Corps member said. I learnt from him that for you to rule successfully, you must appreciate the common man, he is a very good friend of the masses, seeing him come so close to the people inspires me, I was just coming from my CDS now and I saw him here, I was so happy and I said I must see him before he leaves and that was why I accosted him.

“I just thank God for what happened now and I pray God bless him abundantly. He has just called the provost that I should be retained, that I should be given automatic employment, permanent employment, he called the provost and the provost said first thing on Monday I should come with my CV. I just want to appreciate governor Fayose.

Do you know that about five suspects has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for various alleged registration infractions in the ongoing 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB).
The arrested persons have reportedly confessed to spending over N20m to construct a radio platform with which they hacked into JAMB’s registration portal.
The suspected fraudsters were arrested in Oyo, Ogun and Borno States by officers and men of the NSCDC and brought to Abuja where they are being interrogated. In the presence of the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Abdullahi Gana Mohamadu, the suspects reportedly confessed to numerous registration irregularities.

The Spokesperson of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, said, “These registration thieves deployed fake biometric capturing mechanisms and super-imposed registration slips just to satisfy the curiosity of innocent candidates that their registration was successful.
“And on the day of examination, such candidates’ data would either be edited, or not found on the JAMB data base.
“Such candidates would not be verified during the examination proper.”
Mr. Benjamin added, “More worrisome is the massive investment by E- Kindle CBT centres to penetrate the airtel system we are using to perpetrate all forms of wholesome practices. They register candidates without proper biometric which means such candidates will have problems with their details during examination if not corrected immediately.
“From investigation at the headquarters of the NSCDC, it was clear that they had powerful men backing them to thwart the efforts of JAMB. If not, how will you justify them spending over N20 million to construct a radio platform just to hack into the Board’s registration exercise if not to destroy the entire system and put JAMB in bad light?
“This investigation has clearly shown that the Board under Prof. Is-haq Oloyede may be in for a bigger fight given his stand on anti-corruption.”

Is Jamb trying to secure all malpractices ?

We are using this opportunity to notify all the UTME Candidates that the Joint Admission Matriculation Board has made known to the public that it has fixed some certain loopholes that led to the postponement of the Mock Examination on 8th April,2017.

The JAMB spokesman, Dr Fabian Benjamin who spoke on recent developments admitted that there was actually a breach of some of the equipment which, if allowed to continue, would have compromised the integrity of the exercise.

Benjamin who faulted claims that the Board was not prepared for the examinations said the challenges being experienced are teething problems which have been addressed.

He said, “Thank God the mock examination is a voluntary exercise that was designed to test -run our system, to also identify some of those things that we have identified now. Some of the things we learnt from that postponement, we will not begin to discuss them in the open because they are very confidential, but suffice it to say that it opened the door for us to see what we should do to ensure that the forthcoming examination is one of the best ever conducted by this Board.

Although the Computer Based Test (CBT) has been in use by the Board in the last three years, Benjamin clarified that new innovations are designed every year to checkmate any act of security breach.

According to him, “CBT as an exam mode is the same, whatever technology, whatever information or innovation we are bringing to bear on the exam, we are still going to deploy CBT. But the process is what we are talking about. Each year, we keep changing and improving on the processes.

First, in the area of questions, we have come up with a lot of innovations such that we have enough items to examine the candidates on. Previously, we used to deploy once in a day, a place that has three sessions in a day once you deployed in the morning, it is used for the whole day, but this is no longer the case. The Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede is insisting that we must deploy each time we are conducting examination, which means that if we have three sessions, we will deploy three times; this is a new innovation to ensure that even the person at the centre does not compromise the sanctity of the examination.

He appealed to Nigerians to give the Board a chance in its efforts at redefining the process while assuring that the results would come out better in the long run.

So far, Benjamin said about 1.3 million candidates have registered for the examination billed to hold between May 13 and 20.

I have received a lot of complaints through Calls, Chats and Comments from different candidates who have registered for their 2017 UTME exercise on the Issue they are having with JAMB Subject combinations and some of the questions which i may not get the correct order in which they put it, are below:

I made a mistake on the subjects am required to choose for this course, Can i be able to change it?

I was supposed to choose Economics for Law but i choose another subjects instead, How can i correct it sir?

The Person that Registered my JAMB Choose the Wrong Subjects while i was not around and registered it, Hope it can be corrected?

My Subject Combination for Mass Communication is Use of English, Literature in English, Economics and Government or CRK/IRK. but I choose Literature,Government and CRK instead of Economics. Can i change it? etc.

As at 2016 Downward, it was possible for candidates to change their JAMB Subject combination by their self using the The JAMB Unified Platform, but that can not be said about 2017 as JAMB Is yet to make it available for candidates to effect any changes or correction of details concerning error in Jamb Subject Combinations.

But Since it was possible to correct last year and the previous years, i believe they can also enable it this year for candidates to correct the mistakes they made during the selection of Subjects for the course they intend to study which some of the errors were not even made by the candidates them but by the Registrars.

We are going to forward a complaint to JAMB and see the response we can get concerning whether it will be possible to change Subject combinations after submitting Registration. Any Information we gather will be updated on our Forums as soon as possible.

Campus News / BREAKING: Asuu To Sack JAMB Registrar
« on: April 21, 2017, 12:50:05 AM »

Information reaching us about the reported issues on the ongoing 2017 UTME registration, the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) University of Ibadan Chapter, Dr Deji Omole has called on the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede to voluntarily resign from office.
The academic union also asked the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu to call the registrar to order to lessen the difficulty being experienced by the candidates.

According to Dr Omole, JAMB had outlived its usefulness and the best thing is to scrap it and allow universities design their standard examination for their own candidates.
He noted that the fact that a mock examination was stopped due to logistic reasons points to incompetence of the JAMB Registrar.
“Why will anybody make life difficult for candidates whose parents are struggling to live under the terrible condition the government has made them to live in?”
“Why would somebody introduce changes that are only known by members of the board?” .

“How can we ensure that the candidates prepare well for the exams when they spend weeks waiting for Personal Identification Number and are at the mercy of registration officers who force them to go to cybercafe where they have arrangements to first create their profile before they can have their PIN?” He queried.

How well do you keep your debit card (ATM card)? Would you give anyone access to your bank accounts, unfortunately you are doing just that when you keep your credit cards carelessly, debit card takes money directly from your account, which makes them juicy target for fraudsters. Here are few tips that will help you protect yourself from card skimming or any form of fraud.

1. Update Your Bank Information Regularly:
Update your the contact information (i.e. mobile number, e-mail, address, etc.) that you gave to the bank regularly. This will make it faster for the bank to notify you of any suspicious transactions.

2. Be smart with online transactions:
Shop with credible merchants and look for secure transaction symbols like the “lock” icon on your browser that starts with “https”. Avoid using public hotspots for online payments, log out from a site properly after you make a purchase, if you can’t log off close your browser to protect your personal information.

3.Do a regular Check:
Check your account balance and transaction history regularly. If you see anything suspicious, immediately report it to the bank. Review account statements from your financial institution or credit union when you get them, or better still sign up for electronic banking to get secure online access to your account day or night. Report any problems or questions, including transactions you think may be unauthorised, right away. Again, quick action can limit misuse and save you money.

4.Keep your PIN a secret
You are advised to memorise your PIN, and never write it on your card or store it with your card. Do not let anyone else enter your PIN for you. Don’t give your PIN over the telephone. No company or person should ever ask for your PIN, not even your bank or credit union. If you use your debit card to make a purchase by phone, never disclose your PIN. Always keep your PIN a secret?)

5.Don’t wait
If your card is lost or stolen, report it to your financial institution right away. By notifying your bank or credit union immediately, you reduce the chance that your card will be used improperly. Even better, you limit your potential liability – translation: the money you actually lose – for unauthorised transactions by scammers or hackers.

6.Watch your email
Email is probably the most common method of identity theft and electronic fraud. Don’t provide your debit or credit card number, PIN or other personal information in response to an unsolicited email or online request. Electronic security pros recommend different PINs for different accounts. And it’s a good idea to change your PINs often.

7. Be Vigilant: Be vigilant of your surroundings when approaching and using an ATM. Make it a habit to cover your hand and pin pad as you enter your PIN on the ATM.

8. Destroy Old cards: If you receive a new card, make sure to destroy your old one. Make sure to cut across the magnetic strip and destroy the chip.

9. Protect your card If the magnetic stripe on the back of your card is damaged or demagnetised, the “swipe and buy” process cannot work. So don’t expose your card to magnetic objects, dirt and grit, keys or other objects that can nick the stripe.

10. If you’re planning to use your card abroad, let the bank know your travel dates and destination.
